BAV 1 wins Under 13 Regional Teams

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

To kick off the new year, 20 BAV students competed in the WSBA Under 13 Interstate Series and Regional Teams Challenge last Friday. It was quite a rush for some of our players to prepare as they just came back from holidays but it didn't stop them from winning gold.

A big congrats to our BAV youngsters Gary Chau, Kijen Lew and Joshua Ea for making into the Under 13 Victorian Rebels team and to Vincent Chen and Yee-Yuan Lim for making into the Victorian Demons team. Both teams competed in the Interstate Series, having to verse NSW first and second teams all on the one day. Victorian Rebels managed to finish in first place, defeating NSW Thunder team for the final spot with the overall team score of 10-2 while Victorian Demons finished third, beating NSW's second team NSW Lightning for their final placing 12-0.

Under 13 Regional Teams Challenge: BAV 2 vs Team WSBA

Happening at the same time, BAV entered two teams in the Under 13 Regional Teams Challenge, BAV 1 and BAV 2. Representatives of BAV 1 were Ethan Ea, Faris Truong, Garren Cheung, Jagtar Singh, Nils Vercruysse, Anushka Sridhar, Kishen Lew and Serena Lin, coached and managed by BAV alumni Boris Ma. Hoping for gold this time round, BAV 1 had to play against new team Combined States for the final placing. With BAV 1 being a all-rounded team, they were able to secure first place with the overall score of 9-3. Congrats BAV!

Although BAV 2 did not get a medal placing, the team members have lots of potential with some of them being at their first teams competition. BAV 2 members include Caleb Chia, Marcus Lee, Stanley Lin, Thomas Lee, Elin Vercruysse, Kawaii Cheung, Ruth Gunasegaram and Simran Dhillon coached and managed by BAV alumni Victoria Na. BAV would like to congratulate our future champions of BAV and that next year, we hope to do better!
