2014 OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

Congratulations and job well done to AUS team on winning again the Oceania team events this year (photo attached).

Our players Louisa Ma, Joy Lai, Kashmira, Ashwant, Matthew Chau, Luke Chong, Athi Selladurai, Andrew Paulet were all competing in the individual events (Oceania Championships).

A lot matches were broadcast live at: http://www.mysportlive.com.au

BAV and all the coaches are proud of all these players’ achievements at the Oceania champs regardless.

Most of these players have been training with us from young age like some of yours. We are not only their coach/es, but friends and sister or brother.

In the men’s singles, Ashwant Gobinathan lost in the final round against Australian player, Jeff Tho.

In the ladies doubles, Louisa Ma partner with Jacintha Joe from Canberra came short as well against Australian national team pair: Gronya Somerville/Jacqueline Guan.

Matthew Chau who reached final in 2 events (men’s doubles partner with Sawan Serasinghe and mixed parter with Jacqui Guan); lost in both final rounds. Matt/Sawan lost to Glenn Warfe/Raymond Tam and Matt/Jacqui lost to NZ siblings mixed pair Oliver/Susanah Leydon-Davies.

Well done to the rest of our players as well on their achievements: Luke Chong (semi-finalists in all 3 events), Athi Selladurai (quarter in men’s and mixed doubles), our youngest player (Joy Lai, lost in semi of singles) and Andrew Paulet (runners up in men’s singles plate event).

Hope their achievements will be the inspiration for all our younger players.
