BAV's Gobinathan and Chau: Oceania Champions 2016

Congratulations to Ashwant Gobinathan on winning the Men's Singles and Matthew Chau on winning the Men's Doubles at the Oceania Individual Championships held last week in Tahiti and New Zealand. Also congratulations to Joy Lai for coming second in the Women's Singles.

This Oceania Championships is the last tournament for the Olympic qualification period. For some players, the result of this last tournament could mean whether they go to Rio or not. In order for Ashwant to be Oceania's leading contender, he had to win the Men's Singles. Matt and his partner Sawan Serasinghe had a comfortable win and have also came up on top to be a leading contender.

The doubles, mixed doubles and men's singles finals were played in Tahiti and the women's singles finals were played in Auckland, New Zealand due to unplayable court conditions. You can find the results by clicking the following link:
