Another year, another BAV Games Day!

On Saturday June 21st, we hosted a club event for our members. There were two separate categories, one for the kids and one of the older teens and parents. The day was mainly for our club members but anyone is welcome to join! If you’re thinking about joining us for our next event, sign up! We got a few people who weren’t part of the club to join us on the day and a few club members that weren’t able to attend. But we hope that our club members can make it to the next event we have. No confirmed date yet, but keep a lookout! O.o

Duck Duck Goose

It was wonderful to see all the kids from different training sessions gather together, all on one day! You can imagine how hectic this was going to be. We knew full well, so we prepared mini games and activities to keep the kids entertained both on and off the court! One of the activities we did was a treasure hunt! Or should I say… goose hunt?

A shuttle is made up of 16 feathers, can you find 16 geese? We may have hidden some of them a little too well… the teams found 4, 5 and the winning team with 10. I guess we overestimated the kids’ abilities for the hunt. We thought they’d smash it. Safe to say…no one will be able to play badminton with feathers missing from their shuttle! Note: No geese were harmed in the making.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

But! Don't be alarmed. We also had a raffle! Everyone’s names were placed in a box and the lucky name pulled out got to choose a prize. There was a choice of a shuttle tube, two coasters, a bag and a badminton backpack! Thank you to badminton RSL products for the prizes to give out to our members.

Congrats to our first place winners! Great effort from everyone!

BAV Games Day Purpose

We’re so glad to be able to give back to our members that have supported us by gathering everyone together and having a friendly competition. One of our main goals for hosting BAV Games Day is to bring everyone together from all our training sessions and see how our students have grown. And for parents to have a friendly game with other parents and their teens, too!

There were many new faces on the day. Some may have discovered that there is such a thing as other BAV students... who knew they even existed, right?

Message from the Committee

From the BAV coaches and committee, it was so lovely to see everyone bond together and have fun, yet put their training in action. We aim to continue this tradition, and possibly bring to action some other ideas to get our club more involved. We’re happy with the turnout and hope we can bring everyone from both Kilsyth and Mount Waverley to attend our future events despite longer travel time.

We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Enjoy school holidays! Or if you’ve got nothing to do, come join us for Holiday Badminton running from 8-July to 19-July.
